Dr. Shelby Entner

Dr. Shelby Entner graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR in 2002 after finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in 1996.

During her years in Portland, OR, Dr. Entner worked with many leaders in the natural medicine field during her studies and internships. Her specialty clinics included gynecology, dermatology and gastroenterology rotations with a wide range of patients including high risk youth, low income seniors and persons involved in drug and alcohol recovery.

Dr. Entner has been in private practice since 2002 when she started her first clinic in Boise, ID. She utilized a range of therapeutics including herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle counseling, women’s health, pediatrics, nutritional supplementation and laboratory testing. Working with a wide range of patients allowed her to develop individualized and supportive treatments for a wide variety of conditions.

Dr. Entner returned to Canada in 2006 with her husband, Dr. Ryan Entner, D.C. and practiced at a local clinic for year before developing Okanagan Natural Medicine with Dr. Chris Spooner in 2008.

Expanding with additional therapies such as chelation for heavy metal toxicity, laser therapy for pain and injury management, and vitamin injections for deficiencies and chronic illnesses, Dr. Entner has seen exciting and often dramatic results for her patients.

With over ten years of experience in women’s medicine and bio-identical hormones, Dr. Entner has specialized in helping women to make sense of their health and to develop a practice that focuses on natural family medicine for men, women and children. Her passion is empowering patients to understand and make individualized choices in their health and wellness.

Dr. Entner has lectured extensively in Canada and the United States in hospitals, universities and to the general public on a wide variety of topics including women’s health, pediatrics, nutrition, heart health and detoxification. She has been published in local newspapers and magazines, websites and was a regular contributor to a website dedicated to nutrition. She is the only naturopathic physician in Canada who has been appointed by the government of Canada to be a medical member of a Review Tribunal. She frequently travels across Canada to make decisions on CPP and disability appeals.

Dr. Shelby Entner makes her home in Vernon, BC with her husband and their young children, Aidan and Senna. She enjoys the Okanagan lifestyle with lots of sun, snow and a slower pace that allows her to find a balance between a busy work and home life.

 
 
 
 

Dr. Chris Spooner

Dr. Spooner received a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Victoria in 1991 and his ND from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1998.

Dr. Spooner has been a member of the Canadian National Rowing team and has competed in numerous national and international events, including the 1991 Pan American Games. He has combined his experience in athletics with his naturopathic training to incorporate naturopathic therapies in the training programs of recreational and elite athletes. In 2001 he worked with PacificSport, the Canadian west coast national training center for swimming, cycling rowing, triathlon, and rugby, to implement dietary and non drug strategies to assist athletes in recovering from injuries and training.

In 2003 Dr. Spooner accepted the position of Post Doctoral Fellow in Environmental Medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine Environmental Medicine Center of Excellence under the directorship of Dr. Walter Crinnion. After completing the fellowship in 2005 he continued instructing at SCNM as an Assistant Professor, teaching courses in toxicology, environmental medicine, nutrition and supervising student clinical rotations at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center.


While At SCNM Dr. Spooner was instrumental in developing the Wellness center in the Phoenix fire department Medical center. The goal of this center was to provide naturopathic health care the 3000 firefighters of the greater Phoenix area

Dr. Spooner has been an advisor on CAM therapies to the board of directors of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses.

Currently, Dr. Spooner is in private practice in Vernon BC. He as adjunct faculty at three of the five naturopathic colleges in North America and continues to lecture at medical conferences.

Dr. Spooner works with individuals suffering from illness associated with environmental toxicity, such as autoimmune conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, MS), cardiovascular disease, and chronic fatigue. IV and injection therapies, chelation, botanical medicine, acupuncture, nutritional supplementation and homeopathy are used extensively in his practice.
